Zane State College Hosts TRIO Open House

ZANESVILLE, OH –Zane State College hosted their TRIO Student Support Services open house on Thursday.

Attendees had the opportunity to meet the TRIO team, enjoy a few snacks and learn more about the options they have to jump start their career planning or gain insight on financial aid assistance to navigate their college journey.

“The TRIO programs are federally funded programs through grants from the US Department of Education. They started in the 60s with the higher education act and legislation that was designed to provide assistance for students from low-income backgrounds but also who are first generation college students and that’s what we do here,” TRIO Director Joshua Eno explained. “We support students who enroll at Zane State and they’re eligible for our program and we provide the assistance that they need to succeed in college.”

The event was held on campus and was open to everyone interested in learning about the impact of TRIO at Zane State.

“The 4th Saturday in February is national TRIO Day, so we’re celebrating all national TRIO programs today since we’re not open on Saturdays. We’ve got an open house in our office, some popcorn, cotton candy, and we’ve got some alumni who have come to join us. It’s open to current students and everybody on campus,” Eno said.

Students who are interested in the program can drop by the office for more information or visit ZaneState.edu for more information on how to apply to the program.
