Alan Mahon

Alan Theodore Mahon, 92, of Zanesville, Ohio passed away from this life to his Heavenly home on February 28, 2025 at his home. Alan was born on February 21, 1933, in Zanesville, a son of the late Chancey and Arvilla (Matthews) Mahon. Alan Mahon and Doris Carr were married on April 11, 1953. They had three children: Dan, Paula, and Becky Lynn. Alan was a painter for R.L. Fulkerson and Sons Painting Company for many years. He was in the Air National Guard for 5 years. He loved woodworking, but more than anything he loved sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a member of Roseville Nazarene Church since 1956. He loved teaching Sunday School and taught for many years. He felt blessed to be a friend and caretaker for Marlene Barker and also having long time friends and brothers in Christ: Leslie Burchett, Ivan Wilson, Bill Heim, and Rusty Barker. Alan is survived by his children Dan and Becky Mahon, Paula and Robert Long. Grandchildren Bobby and Julie Long, Karen and Charlie Lorentz, Linda and Jeromy Sprankle, Carrie and James Blinzinger. Great-grandchildren Baylee, Gavin, Eli, John Paul, Joey, and Michael. Sister Joy Bronniman. Sister-in-laws Bonnie Mahon and Leanna Carr, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to thank Karen and Clay Hannum for their loving care of our father as well as Genesis Hospice. Alan was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Doris, infant daughter Becky Lynn, sister Shirley Edgell, and brothers Tim and Phillip Mahon. Calling hours will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Tuesday March 4, 2025 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday March 5, 2025 with Pastor Jim Lanning officiating as well as Pastor Larry Harper. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
