Ervin Norris

Ervin Eliza Norris, Jr., 79, of Newark, Ohio, passed away Monday, March 3, 2025. Ervin was born July 7, 1945 in Zanesville, Ohio, son of the late Ervin E. and Dorothy Louise (Martenia) Norris, Sr. In addition to his parents, Ervin is also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Yuk Yi “Joanne” Norris; three brothers, Walter Norris, Joseph Norris, and Nathan Norris, Sr.; as well as two sisters, Diana Kelley and Carol Person.
Ervin leaves to mourn his passing, his siblings, Richard (Debbie) Norris, Donna Norris, Barbara (Gordy) Newman, Patricia (Norris) Alexander and Anthony (Marilyn) Norris; many nieces and nephews; several aunts and uncles; special nephew, who lives just down the street and there whenever he was needed, Jongsung (Sunny) Lee; neighbor and friend, Dave (Joyce) and a host of other family and friends.
Ervin was a 1963 graduate of Adamsville High School, where he was a member of their basketball team. He also played football with Zanesville, as Adamsville did not have a team. Ervin was a United States Veteran, having served in the Air Force. During his service he was stationed in Texas, Illinois, Germany, Spain and England. Ervin dedicated employment to various companies, including Brockway, Armco, Handy Man and more before taking his retirement from Dupont. He helped with the building of his church, Church of God Saints of Christ where he remained a faithful member. Ervin was a helper to all of his family and friends, always looking for ways to help those he loved. He will be missed.
You may call on the family Monday, March 10, 2025 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Burrell Funeral Services, in Zanesville. Additional calling will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m., with funeral service to follow at 10 a.m., at Church of God Saints of Christ, 516 Cliffwood Ave., in Zanesville. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery in Coshocton, Ohio. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
