Dorothy Janusz

Janusz Dorothy Pic

Dorothy June (Anker) Janusz, 98, of Buffalo, passed away Wednesday (March 12, 2025) at her home.

She was born June 21, 1926 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Clayton Anker and Irene (Geese) Anker.

A 1944 graduate of Canton Lehman High School, Dorothy had worked at RCA and at the Central National Bank in both Cambridge and Byesville.

She was a member of the Buffalo United Methodist Church and the Bethlehem United Methodist Church.

Dorothy’s passing marks the end of an era, a heartbreaking loss that echoes through her family. She was the glue that bound them together with her love and devotion.

Dorothy found joy in simplicity – watching Andy Griffith, collecting seashells on beach vacations, listening to her Alan Jackson Precious Memories CDs and sharing laughter with her family. She loved being outside, happily spending hours working in her garden and watching the hummingbirds while sitting on her porch swing.

Holidays and Birthdays were special times where she kept tradition by hosting family gatherings. She especially enjoyed Thanksgiving when 30 – 40 family members gathered to feast on her legendary cooking.

She was a true Christian and was looking forward to meeting her Savior and reuniting with old friends and family again.

Dorothy will be missed by all who knew her. Her kindness, empathy for others and selflessness are like no other and will be etched in our memories forever.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Janusz, who passed away April 4, 2008. They were married June 27, 1948. Also deceased are her siblings, Carl Anker and Lois Howell; two daughters, Dawn Bradison and Kay Dodd; and a great-grandson, Cameron Bradison.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Steve (Lori) Janusz of Hillsboro WI; three daughters, Cindy Masters of New Philadelphia, Judy Cavanagh of Columbus, and Julie Vickers of Florence AL; thirteen grandchildren, Brent (Toni) Dodd, Brenda Foltz, Barbara Lake, Michele Stiffler, Lee Stiffler, Angela (Eddie) Lucero, Eric (Megan) Bradison, Christopher (Kelsey) Bradison, Nathan Janusz, Nicholas Vickers, Chelsea Vickers, Brandon Vickers, and Bridgett Vickers; and several great-grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday (March 20, 2025) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Debbie Gheen officiating.
