Dale German Pic

Dale Watson German, 92 ¾, son of the late Harry and Vera German of Zanesville, joined the love of his life, Dorothy “Dot” on March 15, 2025.
He was born on April 27, 1932. Dale was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He married his late wife, Dot, on June 2, 1953. They were married for 67 years, dating 5 years prior to marriage. Dale enjoyed being a part of his community. He served in a leadership role at Sonora Methodist Church. He helped organize the Perry School baseball programs. He worked tirelessly to upgrade St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery during his 16-year period as a Perry Township Trustee. Dale was a Charter Member of the East 40 Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon for many years. He mowed the grounds at the church, along with his wife, Dot, until he was 80 years old.
He was known as the candy man at church as he always had a pocket full of root beer barrels and lifesavers to give to the kids (and adults). Dale and Dot did wood crafts for many years, many still around today. He had previously worked at DeLong and Baker Funeral Home, Hupp Concrete, and eventually retired from New Bakery.
Dale spent the past 3 years being honorary greeter at his grandson Tyler’s store, German Farms Market. You never left the store without him telling you to “have a good one”.
He is survived by his children, Jeff (Kathy), Debbie, and Doug (Amy) ; grandkids, Tyler German, Alison (Austin) Holsky, JD, Jimmy (Tara) Ritchey, and Brian (Jennifer) Ritchey; great grandkids, Cali and Bella German, Harper and Ellie Holsky, Makayla and Morgan Ritchey, and Quinn Ritchey; and sister, Sue Harple.
