United Way of MPM Updates
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan Counties offer several programs throughout the year that benefit area residents.
United Way of MPM CEO Tracey Ballas announced that people have until Saturday, April 12th, to dial 2-1-1 and register for their free tax preparation service.
“We have served over 260 households thus far and that has generated over $300,000 in federal tax returns and over $41,000 in state tax returns. The reason why that’s important is that we have interviewed households and asked them, ‘when you get your tax returns, how will you be utilizing that money?’ and they’re putting it toward their households for rent, mortgage and food and utilities,” Ballas said.
United Way of MPM Community Impact Coordinator Katie Grubbs shared how the organization is gearing up for their Spring Funding Cycle, which helps fund other programs like the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, and the Imagination Library.
“Nonprofits and 501-C-3’s in Muskingum, Perry and Morgan County; they can apply for funding for a program that aligns with United Way’s pillars; which are health, education and financial stability. So we really, you know, are looking for any partner because we feel like partnering with so many different agencies makes such a larger impact in our community. And making sure that we’re all working towards the same goals,” Grubbs said.
