Newark Police Investigating Armed Robbery

Newark, OH- Newark Police continue to investigate the armed robbery of a gas station.

The robbery took place at the Speedway located at 117 East Main Street. Newark Police said the suspect is a black male, that was wearing a light colored Nike zip-up hooded sweatshirt and dark pants, light-colored slides, black glasses, black face covering and a black back pack. The suspect is approximately 5’7 to 5’10. Authorities said the man presented a firearm and demanded cash. The attendant provided the suspect with money without incident and was not harmed.

Police report prior to the robbery the suspect was observed on video surveillance approaching the gas station on foot. Following the robbery, the suspect was seen running east across the bridge towards the Licking County Justice Center.
