Muskingum County- The Muskingum County Port Authority has a new executive director.

Muskingum County native Eric Reed will replace Matt Abbott, who recently resigned to accept the position of President of Ohio Southeast Economic Development.

Reed recently served as the Muskingum County Administrator and Compliance Officer for nearly four years before accepting the position at the Port Authority.

“In his role as county administrator, Eric has been involved in most of our work, attending Port Authority Board meetings the past few years. He knows the projects we are working on and our
priorities for the community and county economic development in the next few years,” commented Board Vice Chair Mike Bennett, “Eric’s experience and skill set will serve him and us
well in this position. He will be able to hit the ground running.”

Reed is a graduate of Tri-Valley High School and the Ohio State University.

“I am grateful and honored to have the opportunity to lead this organization,” said Eric Reed. “The Zanesville Muskingum County Port Authority has a strong history of success in economic
development, and I look forward to working to improve the future of our community.”

The Port Authority was formed in 1987 and has acted as the city and county’s primary economic development office. In addition to the new National Road Business Park, the Port Authority has
been instrumental in several public and private sector economic development projects.
