Two People Arrested on Weapon Charges

Two people from out-of-state are now in custody in Muskingum County, following a traffic stop in Dresden on August 19.

Sheriff Matt Lutz said Dresden Police executed a search warrant of the vehicle, and as a result, a .45 caliber hand gun and an AR-15 assault rifle were seized. The driver of the vehicle, 59-year-old TeaJay Johnson of New Mexico, and 21-year-old Ginger Maurer, were arrested on charges of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and having a weapon under disability.

“The vehicle had a male and two females in it, they said they were up there looking for a third girl, and when the officer got them out of the vehicle there was a subsequent search done, before the vehicle was impounded, the driver of the vehicle had no valid driver’s license, and the car had expired tags on it,” Lutz said.

As a result of the investigation, a third suspect, 33-year-old Timothy Amende of New Mexico, was taken into custody following a stand-off at a local motel. The fugitive was sent back to New Mexico on a warrant for his arrest.

Johnson and Maurer are currently being held in the Muskingum County Jail.
