Chamber Launching Student Business Connector
For those looking for internships and co-ops, look no further.
The Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce is launching a new program, the Student Business Connector, for high school and college students seeking work-based learning opportunities. The chamber hopes this new program will help students identify rewarding career paths.
"We want to help young people, high school-aged students, college students make connections with area employers earlier in life before they get out of school," said Chamber President, Tom Poorman. "We want them to know what the world of work is like, we want employers to have a chance to help develop the local workforce, this is a long-term workforce development initiative."
The Student Business Connector is an online webpage, where students and their parents can browse a directory of different work opportunities, including internships, job-shadowing, and co-ops. But first, the chamber is in need of employers.
"Right now we’re asking employers to go online, take an online survey, they can go to zmchamber.com, there’s a link right on the front page where they can go to the page they can see an example of the directory that we’re putting together of these different opportunities, like internships, and job shadowing and so forth," Poorman said.
