Zanesville High School To Bury Time Capsule
Zanesville High School made their own piece of history this evening.
The new high school had its first day of school ever on September 7, 2010 and in honor of the history they’ve made so far a time capsule was buried in the courtyard.
“Well today we were able to follow tradition of having a time capsule. We had one in the old school that we dug up and we looked at all the contents in it and we thought how important it was for us to do that again. We have stuff from all different sectors of our school. We have athletic memorabilia and we even have things that have been really special for the administration.” explained Zanesville Board of Education member Janet Stewart
Stewart said she was very taken aback by how emotional she got when picking out items to put into the time capsule but she is excited about one thing…
“We’re going to open it up and we’re going to have people be able to see what was important to us. Important to us was student achievement and all the wonderful things our children do… from the band to all of our athletic teams to our robotics team, to each and every student because they are the most important thing we have.”
The most meaningful item in the capsule she says, is the last flag that flew over the old high school, symbolizing the freedom of education.
