Locals Enjoying the Fall-Like Temperatures in August
The past week locals have been doing everything they can to take advantage of the fall-like conditions.
We all know this summer’s weather has been far from normal, but before things heat up again we stopped by Zane’s Landing to see how people feel about the cooler temperatures and what they have been doing in an effort to spend some time outside.
“Oh, I’ve loved it. It was so warm and humid prior to this that now we can open the windows at night and sleep with just a light blanket. It was so beautiful today that we had a committee meeting (outside). We’re planning our 45th anniversary party for the charter of our organization so we decided to bring a picnic down to the river and it’s been wonderful” explained Secretary of the West Muskingum Lion’s Club Judy Hamilton.
When asked about what’s she’s really been loving about being outside in this weather:
“Well I think the lower humidity…Not having to go out and pull weeds and be bathed in perspiration. Also to hear the birds that are changing their voices because a lot of them are leaving us, and that’s kind of sad but it’s also a promise of next spring. It’s nice also to drive along and see the different flowers that are blooming now, the summer flowers that are about gone but the Goldenrod and all of the beautiful Joe Pye weeds. It’s all out and it’s so beautiful.”
On her plan to get outside today as well, Mary Vansickle said:
“Well I went to mass and then I had called (my friend) Tam to see if she wanted to ride today because its been beautiful this week and she said yes so that’s why we headed out to this trail. It’s so close to downtown Zanesville it makes it great.”
Temperatures will be heating back up this weekend so be sure to get your last pool days in because after Labor Day they will close for the season.
