On the Same Page Muskingum Kick-off
A group of people have come together to encourage people to get reading in Muskingum County.
It’s the inaugural year of On the Same Page Muskingum. Co-chair Kristina Hawk said the two month program aims to get people excited about Zane Grey.
She explained that for the first year of the community read, it is only fitting to pick a local icon like Zane Grey.
“Once we decided we wanted to do a community read here in Zanesville, it seemed natural that we should honor our local author first,” Hawk said. “So we decided that this year we would celebrate the life and the works of Zane Grey.”
During the program people will be reading and discussing four books related to Zane Grey. Hawk said there are many copies distributed to the Muskingum County Library System and at two bookstores in Zanesville. The 14 planned events, Hawk said, have something for everyone.
“This is just a great opportunity for us to put together events that are related to Zane Grey’s life,” she said. “We have a lecture about the Mormon Church and it’s treatment during the Zane Grey time period for people who enjoy lectures. We have readers theater, we’re showing a movie about Riders of the Purple Sage out at the Zane Grey Museum.”
You can search “On the same Page Muskingum” on Facebook to learn about all the planned events. It all kicks off Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at the Dr. Increase Mathews House Museum and Garden at 304 Woodlawn Ave.
There is also a block party at Restoration Park on Muskingum Ave.
