Cry Out America Event To Collect Canned Goods

The sixth annual Cry Out America will be taking place in the next couple of weeks.

The event will be held at American Pride on Sunday, September 13 from 1:45 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.. Muskingum County Coordinator for Cry Out America, Amy Moore told us it is similar to a National Day of Prayer. She told us more about the event.

“One of the pieces that we do is we always honor first responders and so there’ll be a piece at the beginning of that.” Moore Said, “Every law enforcement, fire fighter, there’s everybody there that’s representative of their unit and it’s really nice.”

Moore said all members of the United States Military are also honored at the event. Every year, Cry Out America teams up with the Salvation Army. Those who attend this year are asked to bring a canned good to help feed the hungry. George Bates of the Salvation Army explained further.

“We are struggling. This has been a particularly hard year.” Said Bates, “We run out as fast as it comes in. It goes out the door. We don’t have a big money tree. So we depend on the community and we’re blessed that way also. This is a great community.”

Bates said any kind of canned good is welcome.
