Morgan County Fair Starts Tuesday

Morgan County is gearing up for the annual Morgan County fair.

The festivities begin Sept. 8 and while the grounds are empty as last minute touches are made the week will bring crowds for food, rides, and live stock shows. Admission is just $8 and all funds raised this week go back to the fair grounds. This year President of the Morgan County Agricultural Society Dennis Ruff said they are working to start a building campaign for the hog, sheep, and goat barn.

“The old facility needs a new roof, posts are shot,” said Ruff. “You know, the pins are bad. So rather than put a lot of money into the old building, we’re going to pursue a new one.”

People can make donations at the barn throughout the week and they hope to construct the new building in the next two years. Ruff said creating a new place to house the hogs is very important to the agricultural society.

“Not only for the welfare of the animals but for the welfare of our youth, making it safe for them,” said Ruff.

The week long festival starts Sept. 8 with a kick off parade, a veterans tribute, and Double Cut will take the stage at 8 p.m. in the evening.
