Labor Day Marks the Unofficial End to Summer

Labor Day marks the unofficial end to summer.

We caught up with locals at Dillon State Park to see how they’re celebrating the holiday and enjoying the day off of work and school. People were swimming, boating, having picnics and even just simply reading under the trees. Melanie Richert explains how she and her family spend the holiday:

“We still always got together but at my mother’s home and she chose to come back here just because when you come here you feel like you don’t have to be in the kitchen doing things, you can just sit down, relax and have a good time. We’re enjoying the last day of summer. We came here a couple years ago and it was cold…We had pants and sweatshirts so we’re happy that it’s nice and warm.”

We even spoke with her son and asked him how it feels now that summer has come to an end and school is back in session

“Pretty bummed about not being able to get out and do activities outside but I’m kind of looking forward to it not being so hot and everything…and school days off.”

Hopefully everyone was able to get out and enjoy the holiday while taking advantage of the great summer-like weather as it comes to an unofficial end.
