AEP Providing Incentive Program for Customers

American Electric Power is offering incentives to help customers save money, while cutting back on energy use.

AEP Ohio Business Incentive Representative, Darren Sears, stopped by the county commissioners office today to make sure the county is up-to-speed on the program. Some incentives for commercial and industrial customers include, rebates, discounts and money back guarantees.

“If we have a company that wants to upgrade their lighting or whatever, put more energy efficient lighting in, AEP will give them money back for doing such a thing, and there’s a lot of other things they can incentivize for,” Sears said.

It isn’t just lighting, Sears said that anywhere a customer wants an upgrade to save energy, AEP will incentivize them for it. That means heating and air conditioners aren’t out of the question.

“AEP is going to write the customer a check at the end of project, but folks need to be doing this kind of stuff anyway just to reduce energy, but ultimately that reduces their electric bill,” Sears said.

Sears said the commissioners are looking to take advantage of the program.
