Farm City Day Highlighting the Soybean

Farm City Day is back in Zanesville.

The 21st annual event will bring a taste of farm life to the city by highlighting the importance of agriculture in our local economy. This year’s theme is soybeans, and Vice President of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce, Kelly Ashby, said there will be lots of fun festivities involving the famous bean, including a cooking demonstration.

“There will be a lot of hands-on activities with soybeans, soybean plants, so you can see how many pods on a soybean, make-it take-it crafts, and some great facts about soybeans in general,” Ashby said.

There will be plenty of other activities for families to enjoy as well, such as a petting zoo, scavenger hunt, and live entertainment. Ashby said those who come out will able to experience a day in the life of a farmer.

“Farm city, bringing the city folk into the fairgrounds to just be aware of what agriculture life is about, and have some hands-on activities, and hands-on opportunities for children who aren’t growing up on farms,” Ashby said.

The event is this Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds. Those in attendance will also be able to enjoy the Farmer’s Market.
