Crooksville Couple New Home Owners

The Shepherds are now the proud owners of their very own home.

Construction on the Crooksville home began in April and after hammers, nails, and some blessings in the studs, Habitat for Humanity gave the keys to the couple.

“It’s been a great experience and it’s just a relief to finally own our own home because we’ve been living in apartment type things and you know you’re restricted,” said Owner Mike Shepherd. “You can’t do this. You can’t do that. This is our home. ”

The couple moves in this Saturday and Shepherd said he’s excited to have space for his grandchildren to spend time at their home, and he’s thankful for those who made it all possible.

“Everybody involved with Habitat for Humanity, they just treat you so good and they never expect you to do more than you can do,” said Shepherd. “That’s just the type of environment the whole project was.”

The Shepherds plan to help with the next construction in Perry County which will be right next door.
