Muskingum University Student Killed in Accident

UPDATE 8:36 PM: A vigil is scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Brown Chapel on Muskingum University’s campus after a Muskingum University freshman was killed in an accident Tuesday near New Concord. The Chaplin and counselors are meeting with students in this time of loss.

UPDATE 5:54 PM: The Zanesville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the student was killed after a two vehicle accident.

Authorities said 18 year old Bryce Skok of Mansfield was driving a silver Honda east bound on US Route 40 near Fox Creek Road around 2:30 p.m.

The State Patrol said according to a Franklin Local bus driver traveling east bound at the time of the crash, Skok went left of center and struck 74 year old Mary K. Francis head on who was driving a red Dodge Caravan headed west bound.

Skok was pronounced dead at the scene. Francis was transported and remains in stable condition at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. Authorities said Skok was not wearing his seat-belt at the time of the crash. The accident remains under investigation.
