9th Annual Kat Foundation
The 9th annual Kat Foundation was this Saturday at St. Rose Parish in New Lexington.
The Kat Foundation was started in 2007 by cancer patient Kat Dodson and her family and has raised over $203,000 since then. We spoke with a sister of Kat’s to find out a little more about the fundraiser.
“All of our money stays locally within Perry County for cancer patients who are through chemo or radiation. It helps them get to and from appointments or if they need to buy a wig or even if they don’t have enough money to pay their electric bill for the month. Then all that extra money that we give goes directly to the cancer alliance” explained event coordinator Carol Dodson.
The day of fundraising went from noon until midnight and family and friends gathered for games, food, live autions, bingo and basket raffles all for a good cause. Co-founder of the Perry County Cancer Alliance, Theressa Snyder even participated in Saturday’s event.
“The Kat foundation is our major fundraiser and we definitely couldn’t help nearly as many patients without the Dodson family so we owe them a great deal of gratitude for what they do for the cancer alliance but for the community in general so we’re really happy to get the word out” she said.
The Kat Foundation is already looking forward to next years event where they hope to do their part in raising even more money for the Cancer Alliance.
