Newark to see New Fire Fighters
The city of Newark welcomed on four new additions to the Fire Department Monday.
Micah Collet, who moved to Ohio from Colorado, Andy Neuens, a native of Westerville, Conrad Joseph who is currently enrolled in the fire EMS program at Columbus State, and Ashley Ebel of Newark who is a certified Fire Inspector all had the honor to join the department Sept 28.
“I think they’re great,” said Newark Fire Department Fire Chief Patrick Connor. “All of them have the certifications we are looking for. They look energetic. They’re young. They are ready to go out there and do the job.”
Mayor Jeff hall held a swearing in ceremony in the council chambers at noon that welcomed aboard the four brand new firefighters, all thanks to the federally funded grant, ‘SAFER’.
“We still feel like a small town,”said Mayor Jeff Hall. “Safety is extremely important to all our residents. I many times have said you choose to live in a town this size, and count on safety from police and fire.”
The grant totals $417,000 and runs two years. Newark was among the first wave of award announcements nationwide.
