Red Cross Accepting Nominees for Hometown Heroes
If you know someone who is courageous, the Muskingum Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross is asking you to nominate them to become a Hometown Hero.
The Red Cross’ annual Hometown Heroes Breakfast honors those in our community who have gone above and beyond the ordinary call of duty. The Red Cross is looking for heroes who exhibit courage, selflessness, and compassion, just to name a few.
“What we’re looking for right now are the heroes, and what I’m hoping is that a lot of people know someone who’s made a difference in their lives, and the lives of people in their community, and we would love for you to nominate them to receive this very special award,” said Executive Director, Marlene Henderson.
The Hometown Heroes Breakfast will be at North Terrace Church of Christ on November 6, with doors opening at 7 a.m. There are 10 categories of heroes to be recognized during the event.
“We have a healthcare hero, a pet hero, a youth hero, a military hero, a community hero, you know there’s 10 altogether, and we get several nominations for each category, and then we have selection committee that gets together and we use a matrix form to make it very fair,” Henderson said.
To nominate someone for the award, you can pick up an application at the Muskingum Valley Red Cross on East Pike, or for more information call the Red Cross, at 740-452-2731 .
