Library Expects Influx of Readers
With the transition from summer to fall and the start of school, the library is the place to be this time of year.
An increase in folks using and spending time in John McIntire Library has been noted, and in fact an increase in adult usage in particular. We spoke with Blair Tom to see how business at the library has picked up:
“But what we’ve really noticed this year is an increase in adult usage of the library for programs. We’ve had really great attendance at some of our lunch and learn programs, lectures, book discussions as well as use of the library as a gathering place, a meeting place and a place to find enjoyment and enrichment” he said.
The library is offering an adult coloring book group every 1st and 3rd Saturday in October and a teen writing group every 2nd and 4th Saturday. They also started their story time session in September including baby story time, toddler, preschool and a bedtime story time, all of which are growing quickly.
“Actually today we had two sessions and they’re both full so a lot of energy and enthusiasm in the library. Then we noticed some of the families have play dates in the area with our puzzles and picture books and so forth following the program so again just another great connection for people in the community to meet other people and be introduced to other ideas” Tom explained.
