October’s Featured Artist at ZAAP this Friday

ZAAP’s Featured Artist for the month of October enjoys snapping memories in the buckeye state.

It’s photographer Janice Helmbrecht. Her college career as an art student was the beginning of her artistic journey. Now she works as a mental health counselor and her day job and hobby come together in harmony.

“My husband used to say you can never make up your mind on what you’re going to do but it fit together in the end because I use a lot of the art with my counseling,” said Helmbrecht.

She’s a native to Ohio and said that there’s plenty of photo opportunities everywhere she goes.

“It’s a beautiful place to take pictures,” said Helmbrecht. “Up around Lake Erie, Heron Ohio. I took some pictures up there because I was up there for a conference again. Marietta’s a very old part of the state I like to go there, a lot of neat pictures there.”

Helmbrecht’s work will be featured at the ZAAP Gallery at Friday’s ‘First Friday’ art walk in downtown Zanesville.
