Reminder: Flu Shot Drive-Thru Thursday

As flu season approaches, the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department is doing its part to help prevent the spread.

The department’s annual flu shot clinic and drive-thru is Thursday at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds. This year, the department is providing more than 2,000 flu shots for those seeking vaccination for the virus. Medical Director, Dr. Vicki Whitacre, said this year’s vaccine protects against four different strains of the flu.

“Don’t forget to bring your ID and insurance papers if you have them, the flu shot will be free, but we would like to recoup insurance re-reimbursements, so we can afford next year’s flu shots,” Whitacre said.

The shots are free to Muskingum County residents, ages three and older only. The event begins at 8 a.m. and runs until 6 p.m., while supplies last. The Health Department’s main office on 7th Street and the WIC office on Putnam Avenue will both be closed Thursday, due to the drive-thru.

“There is a walk-in station at the front gate of the fairgrounds, the rest will be drive-thru through the west-gate at the north end of the fairgrounds,” Whitacre said.
