Library Catalog Sees Updates
The John Mcintire Library is doing its part to help area students reach reading goals.
New updates to the library catalog help students find books on the shelves and mark each book with their Accelerated Reading (AR) level. Students looking to read books at their AR level can now see which books make the cut when they search for them in the catalog. Assistant Director of the Muskingum County Library Blair Tom said it’s all about making it easier for students to meet academic goals and do where they’re most comfortable, online.
“It is that 7th location in Muskingum County and certainly a way that many people not only do business and communicate but also use library services,” said Tom. “We have a wealth of really valuable resources online.”
The virtual book shelf feature also recently added can help readers find their books more easily. You can see which books fall just to the right and left of the novel their searching for. Tom said both new features are part of a larger initiative to make the online access to the library more expansive.
“We added those as part of a pretty aggressive plan in the coming months to update the virtual library experience,” said Tom. “That has been added. In November we plan to launch a new website and in January we hope to launch our own unique overdrive downloadable book collection. ”
As always, if you need help using the new features or you like to get help with books the old fashioned way you can always ask a librarian.
