Model Contest Saturday

Event 1

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Calling all scale model builders and enthusiasts.

For the 18th year the Y-City Scale Modelers will host a model contest at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds this Saturday starting at 9 a.m. Y-city Scale Club Member Rick Gooden said this event has grown every year since it began.

“We usually have 200-250 entries, there’s vendors, and it’s grown into quite a good show,” Gooden said.

The registration fees are as follows, $5 for the first entry and $1 for each additional entry. The Juniors ages 13 through 17 and Beginners ages 12 and up classes are free. Registration begins at 9 a.m Saturday.

“When a lot of people think of models they just think of model cars. We have ships, planes, armor, anything. It opens it up to a lot of people who don’t like to build cars,” Gooden said.

This year’s theme is Hollywood. Prizes will include People’s Choice, Modeler’s Choice, President’s Awards, Best of Show, as well as first, second, and third place. The contest will be held at the Veteran’s Building Complex at the fairgrounds.
