Inmate Suffers Serious Head Injuries

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says his detectives are investigating the assault of an inmate in the county jail. Lutz says 28-year-old Jeffrey Dunwoody of Zanesville suffered serious head injuries and is currently at Genesis Hospital for treatment. Lutz says the incident happened Saturday night. The Sheriff says Dunwoody was being held on misdemeanor traffic offenses. No other details of the incident are being released at this time.
