ZPD: OVI Suspected in Head-On Accident
The Zanesville Police Department released more details from Thursday’s serious two vehicle head-on collision. It happed on Maple Avenue at Dresden Road just before 7:00 p.m… Captain Tony Coury says that 48-year-old Tom Warne of Zanesville was traveling north on Maple and had stopped for a traffic signal. Coury says 53-year-old Robert Swingle, also of Zanesville was drivng south on Maple and went left of center and struck Warne head-on. Captain Coury says Swingle is suspected of being under the influucne of alcohol or drugs. A passener in Warne’s vehicle, 11-year-old Francis Warne of Newark and the two drivers were taken to Genesis Hospital for treatment. Coury says the injuries are not thought to be life threatening and the accident remains under investigation. Mr. Warne is the owner of Donald’s Donuts in Zanesville.
