ZHS Devilettes Host Annual Holiday Bazaar

Crafts, delicious food, and hundreds people filled the basement of Secrest Auditorium Saturday.

It was all a part of the Zanesville Devilette Annual Holiday Bazaar that ran from nine this morning until three this afternoon at Secrest. Over 80 vendors packed the basement with crafts, jewelry, candy, and lots of fall and even Christmas themed items for sale. Devilette Director Wayne Carpenter said it’s always fun to see so many folks from the community come out and show their support.

“It’s great. We look forward to this every year. It’s a good time to see a lot of people that we’ve had in the past years. They always come back and say hi and enjoy this,” Carpenter said.

In addition to the vendors, the Devilettes also held a raffle, and the boosters sold homemade food items. Carpenter said the Devilettes need about $10,000 a year to operate, and this fundraiser does a lot to help them reach that goal.

“The money is used to support the Devilettes,” Carpenter said. “It buys uniforms, it buys props, it helps on transportation, it helps sponsor the girls’ awards, and their yearly banquet.”

And of course, you can catch the Devilettes in action at many Zanesville football and basketball games as well as various community events. Their next big fundraiser will be the drill team contest which they host in February in the ZHS gymnasium.
