UPDATE: Sheriff Releases Man’s Name & Criminal History In Fatal Standoff

The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the name of a man who was killed in a standoff with sheriff’s deputies Saturday night.

Sheriff Matt Lutz said the man is identified as Arthur Wayne West Jr. West has an extensive criminal history. A statement from Lutz shows he has been convicted of criminal trespassing, criminal damaging, phone harassment and underage consumption. He has also been previously convicted of disorderly conduct and a violation of a protection order. His last known address is 419 Stewart Street. Lutz also released the name of his girl friend as Sabrina Wofter.

On Saturday around 10:30 deputies received several 911 calls reporting a domestic dispute at 2880 Pinkerton Road. Sheriff Lutz said at one point during negotiations with authorities West said he wanted to commit suicide by cop. The suspect then cut off communications with the negotiator, and authorities said broke an upstairs window and pointed a gun at deputies. Lutz said one deputy fired one round, striking west in the chest, killing him.
