Fatal accident on SR 146

Licking Township – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a 2-vehicle fatal crash
on State Route 146.

The accident happened shortly after 2:30 PM Tuesday near milepost 5 in Muskingum County.

Authorities said a 2014 Ford Explorer, driven by Daphne D. Cheatham, 39, of Zanesville was eastbound on SR 146. A 2022 Dodge Ram, driven by Michael W. Morgan, 57, of Westerville, was westbound on SR 146 and went left of center striking Cheatham.

Authorities said Cheatham’s vehicle then traveled off the right side of the roadway.

Cheatham was pronounced deceased by the Muskingum County Coroner.

Morgan was transported to Genesis in Zanesville with non-life-threatening injuries.

Assisting on scene: Falls Township Fire Department, Licking Township Fire Department, and Ohio Department of Transportation.

The crash remains under investigation
