Young Artists Take the Spotlight at the Zanesville Museum of Art
ZANESVILLE, OH – A splash of color and creativity just made its way to the Zanesville Museum of Art, and it’s all thanks to some very talented young artists.
The ZMA recently installed its annual Muskingum County K-12 Student Art Exhibition. With more than 400 pieces on display, the exhibit features artwork from students across schools in the county to shine a light on the creativity of the area’s youngest artists.
“This gives us a chance to celebrate artistic achievement in kids, where sometimes it’s not as celebrated. We want to show how important art education is in our community. Even kids who don’t go on to do any kind of career in the arts gain a lot of skills that are transferable to anything in life… like critical thinking, problem solving, and it’s even been shown to increase empathy. Honestly, it just makes good humans,” ZMA Education Coordinator Misty Johnson said.
The exhibition’s official opening ceremony will be held Sunday, April 27th from 1 to 4 PM. It’s free to attend and will include live music and complimentary refreshments while you enjoy taking in the art.
“The Satin Strings from Zanesville High School will be here to perform and provide music. We’ll have refreshments, and we’ve got a couple new activities this year. We’re going to have an art activity in our auditorium along with a scavenger hunt,” Johnson said.
The ZMA invites everyone to come support the next generation of artists. More information can be found on the Zanesville Museum of Art website.
