Hildegarde (Heidi) Holmes

Hildegarde Esther (aka Heidi) Holmes (nee Rote), 78, of Seneca Township, died peacefully in her sleep with her husband by her side on April 17, 2025.
She was born January 2, 1947 in Cleveland, daughter of the late Joseph Rote and Mary (Kunath) Rote.
A graduate of John Marshall High School and Bryant & Stratton Business College, Heidi had worked as a payroll clerk and retired in 2012.
She was a member of the North Coast Amateur Radio Club and the Cambridge Amateur Radio Club.
Heidi enjoyed sewing, crocheting, fishing, and hunting.
She was a member of the Christ Our Light Parish.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George; and a grandson, Christopher Smith.
Heidi is survived by her loving spouse, Thomas J. Holmes Sr., whom she married on June 22, 1968; her brothers and sisters, Edward Rote, Rita Kochera, Bernard Rote (Virgina), Mitzi Kneen (Jeff), and Martin Rote (Pam); her children, Sarah Laskowski (Rick), Mary Gilchrist (Raymond), Kathy LaRiche, Tom Holmes Jr., Jack Holmes, and Mark Holmes (Amy); twenty-three grandchildren, Nathan Gilchrist, Jesse Laskowski (Ashley), Becka Czakoczi (Timothy), Megan Slomkowski (Brad), Marshall LaRiche (Ashlyn), Brett Laskowski, Lauretta Gilchrist, Joshua Gilchrist, Noah Gilchrist, Michael LaRiche, Texas Laskowski, Levi Laskowski (Le’Cole), Eleana Peterson-Holmes, Susanna Laskowski, Cheyenna Laskowski, Jonah Gilchrist, Weston Holmes, Amanda Laskowski, Caleb Gilchrist, Abilene Laskowski, Rubianne Laskowski, Elijah Gilchrist, and Cassandra Holmes; and eight great-grandchildren, Timmy, Mason, Aria, Presley, Harleigh, Alora, Dawson, and Blake.
Visitation will be held at Christ Our Light Parish (St. Benedict Catholic Church, 701 Gomber Avenue, Cambridge) on Wednesday (April 23, 2025) from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Father Nicholas Ginnetti officiating. Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Senecaville, is handling the arrangements.
Graveside services and burial will be at Sunset Cemetery (6265 Columbia Road, North Olmsted OH) on Thursday (April 24, 2025) at 11 a.m.
