William “Bill” Dorsey

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, William “Bill” Joseph Dorsey. Bill,76, passed peacefully at home on April 21, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Born on March 26, 1949 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Wayne Allen and Mary Hensler Dorsey
A proud U. S. Navy veteran, a member of Saint Bernard Catholic Church of Corning, Ohio. Bill lived a life marked by honor, deep love, and just the right amount of mischief. He had a legendary sense of humor and a gift for story telling, often colorful, occasionally exaggerated, but always unforgettable. Whether he was recounting a memory or crafting a tale, Bill had a way of making people feel like they were right there with him. You couldn’t leave a conversation with him without a smile and probably a laugh. To know Bill was to feel like family. he had a knack for adopting people into his heart, earning the title of “honorary grandpa” to many. He was always ready with a joke, a lesson, or a helping hand, offering his warmth and wisdom freely to anyone who needed it.
He served his country with pride in the U.S. Navy, and served his family with even greater devotion. His legacy is carried on by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many lives he touched along the way. We will miss his sense of humor, his stories and the way he brought people together everywhere he went.
Fair winds and following seas, Grandpa. Your memory will live on in all of us.
Survived by daughters, Billie (Dennis) Mitchell and Jenny (Josh) Guisinger; grandchildren, Zachary (Allyson), Zhoie (Isaiah), Drew, Brodey, Cooper and Peyton; Great-grandchildren, Hayden and Cruze; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Janice Miller; sister-in-law, Tyneshia Dorsey and cousin, Kathy Ewing.
In addition to his parents preceded in death by sister, Mary Sue Coakley and brothers, Robert, Thomas and Douglas Dorsey.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington Ohio.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 25, 2025 Saint Bernards Catholic Church, 425Adams Street, Corning, Ohio
Burial and Graveside military services will be held in the New Lexington Cemetery at a later date.
