A Sweet Slice of Support: Cake is the Word at the Colony Square Mall

ZANESVILLE, OH – Cake is the word in Zanesville this week, and the Colony Square Mall is serving up sweetness for a good cause!

The Carr Center’s 39th annual Cake Auction is officially underway, and it’s bringing the community today in the most delicious way. This year’s theme is “Cake is the Word” and nearly 300 uniquely decorated cakes are on display, ready to be auctioned off.

“This is one of the most creative and interactive events that I’ve ever seen and it’s a community loved event. It’s been around for 39 years, which is just phenomenal. Each year, cake bakers and companies with their incentives get more and more creative. It’s something that’s so fun for all ages. We want to invite everyone to come out here and see it in person. It’s such an impressive and fun event,” General Manager of the Colony Square Mall Jessica Brailer, said.

Each cake sold helps the Carr Center continue providing essential services to local families including adult day care and speech therapy. With a fundraising goal of $150,000, each generous bid makes a big difference.

“Honestly, if we didn’t have this support, we wouldn’t be able to have the programs. We wouldn’t be able to have adult day, our speech program, Safety Town, or anything like that. This event funds our entire agency,” Executive Director of the Carr Center Katie Graham, said.

Day one of the Cake Auction brought in $60,200. The Cake Auction wraps up on Thursday, April 24th. You can stop by the Colony Square Mall between 9 A.M. and 5 P.M. to support this great cause.
