MCLS Celebrates National Poetry Month with Live Edgar Allan Poe Performance
ZANESVILLE, OH – April is National Poetry Month and the Muskingum County Library System is getting ready to wrap it up in a big way.
In partnership with Muskingum County History and the Zanesville Community Theater, MCLS will be hosting the Tell-Tale Play, An Evening with Edgar Allen Poe, this Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30 PM.
Skyler Tigner, the Adult Services Assistant Librarian, said the event will have live actors portraying some of Poe’s most iconic characters and is set to take place at the historic Zanesville Community Theater.
“So it’s not just going to be readings of Poe poetry, it’s going to be a full performance,” Tigner said. “It’s just going to be really exciting, Muskingum County History has partnered with the Largely Literary Group before in the past, and the programs have gone over really well.”
Tigner said this combines the worlds of literacy, performing arts, and history all into one evening.
She also said there will be a chance to meet the actors following the performance.
“We will have a special session after, where you can ask the Largely Literary Group questions,” Tigner said. “They are also authors so we have an opportunity to speak to the authors and purchase some of their books, also the Community Theater will be selling concessions as well.”
The Tell-Tale Play is open to teens and adults but registration is required.
