FoodWorks Alliance is on the Hunt for the Perfect Gingerbread House

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- It’s the time of year again, aroma of pumpkin spice, leaf-less trees, and cool nights. Along with pumpkin pie, you may want to add a gingerbread house to the list of baked goods this year.

The FoodWorks Alliance and Muskingum County Library System are hosting their first ever Gingerbread House Competition. It’s a fun and friendly event geared toward community participation. Kitchen manager, Anna Thomas, encourages everyone to come out and participate to show off their baking skills.

“We’re welcoming children or adults to enter, culinary students, people who just enjoy baking” said Thomas.

The houses will be on display at the John McIntire Library on December 2. Thomas said the winner will receive a cash prize. The top three finalists will remain on display at the library until December 18. Even if you are not the best baker you may still participate. Thomas said sponsors and volunteers are also welcome.

“At FoodWorks Alliance we are all about local foods, we wanted to give the community an opportunity to show off their baking skills. And to get to know a little bit about what we’re doing here at FoodWorks Alliance” said Thomas.
