Zanesville, OH– The ZAAP art gallery has named its artist of the month for May.
This month’s outstanding artist is Beverly Dunworth someone who has lived in Zanesville for over 30 years but just picked up the brush only 6 years ago.
“For me to be recognized it’s kind of scary in a way, because there’s so many great artists around here. But at the same time, I really feel it’s a privilege to be able to be here. And to let people know that we are here, the arts are growing, there’s tons of things to do around here. I’m not the only one. It’s great to be here for ZAAP,” Dunworth said.
While perfecting her paintings Dunworth draws from local historical buildings like the masonic temple as losing artwork in 2022 has inspired her work today.
“I specialize in watercolor. Which is a different medium that many don’t use today. But I still love watercolor, I love the way the colors flow together. I love the things you can do. And for me this is one of my favorite paintings I did. At the masonic. I didn’t know I could do fire; I could do smoke. And have it all come together,” Dunworth added.
If you want to see Dunworth’s art on display you can visit the ZAAP art gallery during the first Friday art walk tomorrow between 5 and 8 pm. The ZAAP gallery is located at 625 main street in Zanesville.
