Meet Remi, Kyli, Mikki, & Timmi!: This Week’s Pets of the Week

ZANESVILLE, OH – This week the Animal Shelter Society has four adorable puppies taking the spotlight as their Pets of the Week.

Meet Remi, Kyli, Mikki, and Timmi! These siblings are 3-month-old red heelers who are full of energy, love to play, and are searching for their forever homes.

April Gibson, the Executive Director of the Shelter, said these puppies were abandoned in a basket at the end of a road near a mailbox.

“The fortunate thing is the folks [who found them] trusted us to bring them to us so we could take care of them,” Gibson said. “They’re puppies so just keep that in mind when you’re applying for animals and you’re coming through here. Puppies take a lot of work, we’re never sure what size they’re going to be or all completely what they’re mixed with, but they are nice little pups.”

Gibson says they’re also eagerly gearing up for the second annual Pickleball 4 Paws Tournament on May 31st at Riverside Park.

She said fundraising events like Pickleball 4 Paws goes to help out not just the animals but also some of the daily expenses too.

“And sitting before me are three staff members, we’ve got over 20 staff that come in here and take care of these animals and it’s not a cheap thing,” Gibson said. “It’s not an easy thing and we make sure our numbers are good.”

Gibson also said she wanted to recognize Mothers as well as first responders. During the month of May the Shelter will be running an adoption special on all their animals. Any dog is $75 off, cats 6 months and older are $50 off, and cats under 6 months are $40 off.
