Local Church hosts Thanksgiving Dinner

An area church also opened its doors to hundreds of Zanesville residents to celebrate the holidays with their family.

The House of Grace held its third annual Thanksgiving dinner this afternoon. Pastor Joe Dunlap said that it takes a lot of help, support and team-work from the church members to put this event together.

“It’s been awhile. Cooking turkeys and ham, getting everything together, getting the supplies here and the desserts and everybody jumped in together. The whole church, we’re a team. We want to reach the community together and do the things together, and that’s what we’ve done,” said Pastor Dunlap.

The first year the church hosted this dinner they served 85 meals. Last year they served 135-meals, and this year they were expected to serve 2-hundred dinners. Pastor Dunlap says serving others on thanksgiving is a wonderful feeling.

“It’s wonderful, it’s our heart, it’s the thing that we want to do. If they don’t come here, as long as they’re somewhere. We just wanted to make sure that there is a place available for them if they didn’t have family. There’s a lot of meals that already left the building, left the property. And the vans are out delivering, and picking up people and bringing them in,” said Pastor Dunlap.

The House of Grace will continue to serve God and the community. For more ways you can get involved, you can visit their website at www.houseofgraceohio.com.
