John McIntire Library Taking Part in Miracle on Main Street

The John McIntire Library is inviting the community to celebrate the season with its list of holiday festivities.

For the first time ever, the library is hosting a Gingerbread House Competition during the Miracle on Main Street. All houses will be on display in the lobby of the library from 5 until 8 p.m, and the top three finalists will remain on display until the 18th. Along with the competition, Executive Director, Blair Tom, said the library is sponsoring a number of other events this holiday season.

“On the 3rd of December, we are a sponsor of the Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra concert at Secrest Auditorium, and that is at 7 p.m. and free tickets are available at the library,” Tom said.

Those in attendance are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item of their choice to benefit Christ’s Table. On December 14, the library will welcome a very special guest to the Y-city, as the Cincinnati Children’s Theater will make a stop in Zanesville to perform The Elves and the Shoemaker– a live show based on the tale by The Brothers Grimm.

“Free reservations can be made at John McIntire Library by contacting the children’s department, so we encourage people to do that,” Tom said.

Also, storybook themed Christmas decorations can be viewed at the John McIntire, New Concord, and Dresden libraries through the month of December.
