Licenses Now Available for Your Pup

Dog licenses for 2016 are now for sale in Muskingum County.

Anyone in the county who owns a dog three-months or older must purchase a dog license by January 31 to avoid a penalty. Muskingum County Auditor, Debra Nye, said if you don’t have a license on your pup by February 1, the price doubles.

“For a one year dog license, it’s $10, for a three year dog license it’s $30, and if you have a puppy you’ll probably want to purchase a permanent one, and it’s $100, and we also have kennels and those are $50,” Nye said.

Now that dog licenses are for sale, the auditor’s office is partnering with the Animal Shelter for a special adoption event. Donner, a Dachshund-Bichon mix, is up for adoption for half price this week. Several businesses from across the community donated supplies for him, so all you have to do is pay the discounted fee.

“We’re very excited about doing this, usually when we do this the dogs are adopted very quickly, as you start looking at all the wonderful things that go along with the adoption,” said Executive Director, Jody Murray.

Donner is available at the Animal Shelter on a first-come, first-served basis. The shelter is now closed, but doors open at 10 a.m. Friday.

Also, dog licenses are available for purchase at 18 different locations across the county. For a complete list, you can visit muskingumcountyauditor.org.
