MVHC Honors Local Doctor with Dedication

The Muskingum Valley Health Center celebrated a doctor for his over 50 years of commitment to the local health community Thursday.

The ‘Dr. Carl Schowengerdt Community Room’ was dedicated as MVHC staff gathered to thank Schowengerdt for his generous donation to the patient care charitable fund which allows the health center to care for patients beyond the scope usually provided. Schowengerdt said that in his years working with MVHC he sees how important the work of the center is.

“There is still a large segment of the population that is either poorly insured or not insured and there has to be somewhere they can turn when they need healthcare,” said Schowengerdt. “This institution provides that care because they take all comers regardless of what their what their financial status is so this is in my mind a vitally important part of this community. ”

Schowengerdt stepped up to the podium to thank his fellow healthcare providers for their work in caring for a community in need.

“We get so much from our community,” said Schowengerdt. “It’s so important that each of us give back to our community as much as we can in order to say thank you for all you’ve done for me.”

The community room will be used for educational purposes and more.
