Ayanna’s Birthday Wish

Many children would like a new bike or a barbie doll for their birthday. However, one local kid felt it was better to give than to receive on her special day.

Today is Ayanna Stewart’s ninth birthday and instead of receiving gifts, she asked her birthday party guests to make a donation to the Goodwill instead because, she felt that she needed to give.

“Well, my mom and me had an idea to donate some things because, we had been saving up to give to people already. We thought if we had an idea to get people to give their stuff away too, I would do it for my birthday.” Ayanna Stewart went on to say, “I really am proud of everybody for bringing all of this because, it’s really nice of them to even do it.”

We spoke with Ayanna’s mother Jennifer Stewart, and she tells us she is very proud of her daughter.

“It’s just amazing, I get so teary eyed because, she doesn’t even want anything. She just wants to give to others. She has such a big heart. We’re so proud of her, she’s a good girl,” said Stewart.

Ayanna told us, this isn’t the first time that she has done something like this; last year she threw a party and she used all of the money she earned to buy stuffed animals and toys to give to sick kids in the hospital.
