Faith-Based ‘Uniting Us’ Event Combines Faith, Sports and School Spirit in Zanesville

ZANESVILLE, Ohio–A two-night community event is coming to Zanesville with a goal of bringing people together.

“Uniting Us” is a free public event all about celebrating leadership, resilience and community pride. Set to take place May 15 and 16, the evening gatherings will feature inspirational speakers with deep ties to Ohio athletics. The event is being hosted by around 30 local pastors and businesses.

“We’re inviting everybody to come out to listen to our two guest speakers. Julian Goines-Jaxson from the Ohio State football team then we also have Coach Dave Brown from Maysville High School basketball. We’re excited to have [them] with us. Just gonna be two great evenings of uniting our community together,” Rushing Wind Biker Church Pastor Michael McGuire said.

The public event is extending an invitation to everyone. All coaches, players, athletic directors, students and community members are asked to represent their schools by wearing their school colors.

“Wear your varsity jackets, wear your band T-shirt, your choir T-shirt. Whether you play softball, baseball, football, basketball, or you sing…we want you to come and be a part of Uniting Us. We have 200 T-shirts we’re going to pass out for free. We want you to come and be a part of two great evenings,” Pastor McGuire said.

Ohio State football national champion Julian Goines-Jackson will be the guest speaker on night one and Coach Dave Brown will be the guest speaker on night two.

The event will be held at the Zane State College Campus Center and doors will open at 6pm on both nights.
