The Learning Center Donates to The Salvation Army
ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Â Some of the smallest members of our community are giving back in a big way.
The Learning Center’s tiny tots have been gathering canned goods for the past month. Thursday these preschoolers, their parents, and grandparents presented their donation to The Salvation Army and restocked their pantry.
“This is the best part our year,” Learning Center, Director, MaryJane Bednarczuk said. “We bring the children that are going to kindergarten. They have just the best time. They thoroughly understand when they walk into a pantry with semi-empty shelves, and then leave with the shelves overflowing; that they have done a good deed that will move forward not only other children but for adults as well.”
The Salvation Army Program Director Dustin Redmond is overjoyed by this donation.
“They are coming and seeing that the shelves are empty,” Redmond said. “And they are coming in filling the shelves, so they are making a difference. That’s what I think we need. They are the future of Zanesville, the future of our communities. They are giving time and they are giving back to the community of Zanesville at such a young age.”
The Salvation Army is delighted to have this donation, but they say they could always use more help. You can drop off your donations at The Salvation Army on Putnam Avenue.
