ZHS Spring Concert
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville High School Music Program will be holding their annual spring concert Thursday, which will pay homage to America’s veterans.
ZHS Director of Vocal Music Cole Pennington talked about the concert and invited the public to come support the students and the service members who have fought for the freedom of music.
“Well we are here to promote our Spring Choir Concert on Thursday, May the 15th, here this week,” Pennington said. “Our theme is Heroes and Villains and we’re going to have a lot of familiar and fun music. We’re really here to get the word out that we are inviting any and all veterans and their families to come and spend the evening with us and be honored.”
Zanesville Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps Battalion Commander and 11th Grader Parker Roberts will be participating in the choir and explained how much the event means to him.
“As a person that’s in choir, I have been for years and years and it’s… Music has always been a part of my life,” Roberts said. “But joining JROTC connected me with the VAF, American Legion, the Eagles, I even went on a Columbus Honor Flight and it’s connected me through all of the veterans and having family with previous military history. And I think it’s a great way to give back to, by doing all the things that we do.”
Pre-concert refreshments and a veterans tribute will take place 6 p.m. this Thursday at Zanesville High School before the 7 O’clock concert.
