Dorothy Phillips

ZANESVILLE
Dorothy Louise Phillips, went to be with our Heavenly Father on May 22, 2025. Daughter of the late Tom and Maty Jane Payne of Jolo, West Virginia. She was born August 22, 1937. She was preceded in death by her late husband Jim Duty, a son Darrell L. Duty, and a step-daughter Karen Johnson.
She is survived by daughters Christi Duty (Nolan) Kennersley (Jeff) and Kim Duty. Her husband David A. Phillips of 14 years, David’s family: Son Andrew Phillips, two daughters: Karen L. Phillips and Staci D. Phillips, nine grandchildren: Ryan Duty, Brittney Duty, Jason Duty, Josh Duty, Amanda (Eric Rodriguez) Duty, Laurel Duty, Navarre Nolan, Sara McQuire, and Emily Johnson, great-grandchildren: Jacob, Matthew, Ethan, Liddia, Wren, Magdalene, Mathew R., Eva, Brooklyn, Aiden, Bridgid, and Peerson I. Payton.
Dotothy worked for over half of a century in Men and Women’s fashion. She worked in sales and became well sought as a alterations professional. Working in many local clothing stores such as: Roberts Men’s, Larry Wades, Emerson, Elder-Beerman, and at home.
Dorothy enjoyed her family time with her children, grandchildren, and her husband Dave. She was close to the Burkhardt’s of Lisa, Harold, Corey, and Chris as she treated them as family. She was a member of Coburn United Methodist Church and attended several church functions such as Advent Tea, Mother/Daughter Day, and various other activities. She was in the Ramling Roses Ladie’s group and traveled with them on shopping trips, tours, and dinners. She played cards in a card club and attended a dinner club with great friends.
Dorothy married David phillips 14 years ago and they enjoyed their time together by traveling around the United States to several National Parks. The went on cruise ships, toured Italy, and made the best of each day. Dorothy touched many lives with her kindness and laughter. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Calling hours will be held from 2-4 and 6-8pm on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. The funeral service will begin at 1pm Wednesday, June 4, at Coburn United Methodist Church, 3618 Maple Avenue, Zanesville, with Pastor Mark Raaker officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park.
